We are delighted to announce that the 6th UK & IRELAND NF-kB/IKK workshop will take place from 5th to 7th June 2017 at The Copthorne Hotel, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK.

Activation of the NF-kB/IKK pathway is central to many physiological processes, including immunity and inflammation, responses to DNA damage and other cellular stresses such as hypoxia and oxidative stress. As a consequence, aberrantly active NF-kB/IKK activity is associated with a large number of human pathological conditions, including cancer and inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and asthma.  Over 50,000 papers have been published on this pathway and its investigation has lead to major biological and clinical insights. Drugs targeting the NF-kB/IKK pathway are of interest to pharmaceutical companies, researchers and clinicians.

The UK & IRELAND NF-kB/IKK Workshop brings together researchers studying all aspects of this pathway. From molecular insights into regulation of gene expression, the role of ubiquitin in cell signalling through to in vivo models to study this pathway and new drug discovery approaches to target disease.

The workshop is organised by scientists working directly in this field. Funding relies solely on registration fees from participants and sponsorship from medical charities and companies. The workshop is held biannually and previous meetings have taken place in Newcastle, London, Maynooth, Liverpool and Glasgow. We are very excited to be bringing the meeting back to Newcastle, 10 years after the meeting was first started here.

If you would like to help sponsor this meeting or just come along to learn more about this fascinating and important area of biology we would love to hear from you.

We look forward to seeing in Newcastle in 2017!
